Since the Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. story broke, Citizens for Justice has received numerous complaints and inquires about PPL.
But recently, the majority of the messages have came from Southern California, and from Latinos in particular who are saying they feel as if they’re being targeted for fraud by the legal services company. It makes sense only because Southern California has such a large Latino population and they are the majority of small business owners … precisely the ones who might be most attracted to an affordable legal representation service or to a “too good to be true” business opportunity. But, to our knowledge such MLM schemes have never been that exclusive. They’ll take on anyone looking for a few extra bucks. Unfortunately, in 99.9% of the cases, that’s all they’ll ever get.
One emailer said he was enticed to join the company by sales representatives who, in way of proving PPL’s legitimacy as a kosher marketing company, said that his sponsor was directly connected to a police foundation. When pressed, the emailer was hesitant to identify the organization for fear of being sued.
Citizens for Justice is continuing to investigate this story and will bring you information from all sources as they become available.
As always, if you know anything that might uncover the name of this organization and the con-men behind it, please email us.
